Tappy Tappetts Is An Oil Change The Cure ?

Recommended Posts

Fazza6868

I have developed a tappetty sound only really under load or at mid to higher revs on my Mi16 . I am going to do an oil change tommorrow and plan to replace oil with top quality stuff and obviously a new filter. Hopefully from reading through hundreds of threads this may help If I have a lazy tappet

Should I use a flush first ?

what oil is preffered I was going to get the Fuchs 10-40 semi synth

Try a genuine Peugeot oil filter when you do your oil change, lots of people on here recommend it!

Any decent quality oil, you don't need to go for the best of the best. I normally run Mobil 1 in mine but decided to go for Millers in this build and so far its been pretty decent, I haven't noticed any difference and its quite a bit cheaper so I'll be using it again.

I have just bought some Wynns Hydraulic valve lifter treatment, has anybody had any experience with this stuff ?

Same problem with mine. Tried umpteen regular oil changes and a flush. No difference. Convinced the tappety noise is thanks to the cambelt snapping 5 years ago.
