Which 2.0l 16v Engine Is Best To Turbo

Looking at doing a 16v turbo 205, 1st i need to know whats the best engine to start with, i will be fitting oversized forge pistons 87mm and rods

think the 406 had a 2liter turbo as standed so might be a good place to start

think they are quite rare so might be hard to find

Good luck with your project, but please do some searching and research on this forum first.

 

There are plenty of turbo and surpercharged projects and related threads on here.

 

You can even learn the PSA (Peugeot/Citroen) engine codes on Wikipedia. Then you can see all of the cars they were fitted to.

as you're changing the pistons, as already stated the XU10J4RS 306 GTI-6 / Xsara VTS engine is probably the best choice.

yeah putting oversized pistons in and a bigger crank so im lookin at 2.1 or 2.2

engine people turbo most will probley be the gti6 engine the 406 engine is a 2.0 8v turbo

How about an XU10J4? Lower CR as standard if your looking to keep it stock internals. Combatibility with 406 T16 stuff, Valves less likely to fall to pieces

sorry to hijack but i'm looking to supercharge my j4rs which is currently std internally, how reliable are these engine in std form under forced induction? can they be run low boost quite safely?

on another note arent s16 pistons capeable of 400bhp? or am i mixed up with another engine

No need to up CC's if Turbo'ing, you will have enough torque to Kill the Gearbox's with 1998cc which is a area most people don;t look at and can be very expensive if your not into swaping box's often.

Engine wise thou I'd go XU10J4RS

My choice would be XU10J4. But then why not just buy an XU10J4TE? It's all there just waiting for you to turn up the boost.

easier said then done, finding a t16 engine is pritty hard
