Oil Temp Sensor Gti 6

Recommended Posts

SurGie

I found this broken sensor on my newly acquired engine.

There is a bit of the blue plastic broken off round the edge near the seal and has come out from the sump attachment.

My question is, as it's attached directly to the loom wires, can it easily be replaced ?

Im not sure if i can take the wires off this sensor to replace it or whether i will have to solder a new one to the original

loom wires ?? :(

I don't want to touch it until i have a good idea of what to do to replace it properly.

Any help appreciated ;)

Cheers ;)

George:

That has a JPT (junior power timer) or even AMP plug connector on it.

The metal clip you can see, if you prise it open a bit it will disconnect from the sensor itself. You may be best reinserting the sender into the sump to do this.

Do that, find a replacement sensor and plug it back in. Easy.

Also, it wouldn't surpise me if most PSA sump mounted oil temp senders are the same.

Cheers Rich, i'll try that out.

One more thing is there seems to be a metal sleeve with black plastic wrapped round it laying on the floor that either fell off sump bolt connector

or off this sensor and inside the sump connector looks all broken as well.

So as well as a new sensor, can i get the sump connection bit as well easily enough ?

Cheers B)
