Crankshaft Seal

Recommended Posts

I've just fitted the crank seal (see below) but trying to do this with the engine on the stand was hard and the lower part isn't flush with the block.

My question is will this be a problem - i.e will it leak? If it will does anyone have any suggestions to getting it out without damaging it.

I should have waited until it was off the stand but I thought I'd get it done while I thought of it. Now it might delay everything by a week as I can only work on it at the weekends :(

Thanks for looking any advice will be great!

I would try and get the top in further, get it square at least, it looks like the top would touch the flywheel?

Well spotted! will do. Do you think it will seal well once I've done that?

I see no reason why not. The top lip looks iffy now, but should be sound (and round) once fitted evenly.

I've been given "Corteco" crank seal as an OE , and it didn't seal up properly B) it dribbles from the flywheel area every now an then a little bit .. but i simply can't be arsed to re-do this again B)
