Gearbox Removal...air Con In The Way.

Recommended Posts

inspired by the technical articles I thought I'd have a go at replacing the clutch rather than get a garage to do it, and now i'm stuck. bought the clutch and was about to start when I noticed there's an air conditioning pipe in the way that means I won't be able to drop the gearbox down as suggested. pipe runs from front to back right under the gearbox. Haynes says don't touch air con pipes as they're pressurised so I assume i can;t remove that section of pipe and reattach at end of job....Any ideas on what to do?

oh, and the air con doesn't work....

If it was me i would see if there is any pressure in the line by pressing the tyre valve type thing only for a second and see if anything comes out.If not the system is empty and you could remove the pipe safely. You are meant to get aircon systems drained properly as not meant to let gases escape into air but thats the legal type thing.

cheers guys. I did the tyre valve thing check and nothing came out, which could explain why the air con hasn't been working. Now removed the piping. Just got to get with the rest of the job.....thanks.
