Locking Wheel Bolts For Sl434s

Recommended Posts

cRaig

Hi there,

Im currently trying to source some locking wheel bolts for my new alloys, as my curent locking ones are 1.9 flat faced ones from the 1.9 speedlines.

Found this website, was wondering if anyone knew what size/spec I need?

Thanks

Craig

Why bother, Just makes getting them off worse and can damage them, If anyone wants them, the tools to remove them are easy to buy

I don't usually bother, but when you've just spent a huge wad of cash on some rims making them slightly harder to nick is preferable!

Indeed, Ive never spent this much on (new!) alloys before, so Id like to have a go at trying making them slightly less desirable to thives!

I know that soemtimes locking wheel nuts can be more trouble than they are worth (my housemate has recently lost the key for her volvo.. its looking quite expensive to replace!)

But my tyre fitter is very careful with tightening them with a torque wrench properly etc, not using the airgun, so generally I get on alright with the ones on my 205 and 106.

Yep! Just make sure the key lives in a very safe place!

I'm getting very bored of wrestling/beating/drilling out old lockers with no keys!

Indeed. I may end up giving the volvo some abuse to get the lockers out (i feel partly responsible as I was changing the disks and pads when it dissappeared.

Heard alot of stories about getting them out, but not had to do it yet lol.

Its when the mugs at quick fit wizz them on with the air gun you have problems, rather than using a torque wrench!

Who on earth would go to qu*ck sh*t for anything in the first place, let alone taking a 205 with expensive alloys on, id rather go to

a specialist if i had to take it somewhere or fit a spare set of 1.9's without locks.

(they don't talk Chinese, control kids easily or make puppets talk whilst drinking, at all :P )

It takes very little time to fit/unfit them and imo are well worth having, alloys & tires cost a fare whack of cash

and are easily nicked, so why not.

Indeed, the odds of me going to quikfit are very, very slim lol, plus I'll still have my (now quite ruined) goodwood style speedlines, that the car will probabally be running on for a fair bit of the time, so they can do what they like to the alloys to get them off lol.

The main thing im trying to prevent is the first time I finish the car (im still slightly hopeful.. :)) is parking it up and coming back and finding it up on bricks. Considering how unlucky I am.. I dont think thats unrealistic!

Small update- I emailed them direct and they suggested the best (or easiest) place to get them is halfords http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...tegoryId_165464

36quid isnt too bad I guess.. Cheaper than the last gen pug ones I bought for my 106 GTi raptors for my 1.1 :)

Now I just need to find someone with a trade card lol
