Loose Connection Identification Help!

My car is a 1.6 gti. I bought it off somebody as a none runner who tryed to remove an alarm so went crazy with some wire snips. I have the car runnig now but there is still a few bits i need to clear.

Can anybody tell me what these connections are for? many thanks

I think the first one is for the crank angle sensor, which is only for diagnostic purposes in the 8v (jetronic).

 

Again, the second is something to do with testing the thermo switch/coolant fan circuit.

 

So neither are neccessary.

The red one in the second pic has nothing to do with testing the cooling fan thermo switch, that one is a brown five pin plug with only three wires in use.

 

The red one you have in that picture is unused on nearly all UK 205 GTI's & I understand its used on a/c equipped cars but having never seen one I can't be certian.

 

As already said though, neither need to be plugged in.

The 2 pin red connector is used on cars that have twin cooling fans for the rad ie diesels, It plugs into the rad fan relay box. If A/C is fitted it will be a 3 pin red plug.
