What Revs?

Just wondering what revs would a 1.9 be doing at 70mph? Reason for asking is that I have a Mi16 and I need to determine whether it has a 1.6 box or 1.9.

3k ~ 60mph in mine.

3.5k @ 70mph with an Mi box.

60mph @ 3k revs on my 1900, not 100% what box it is though!

Allowing for rev counter inaccuracy a 1.6 box pulls approx 3600rpm @ 70, 1.9 is ~3300 & an Mi is 3500.

So quite varied there then! basically when I bought it the guy said it had a 1.9 box mounted to it. When its idling its just over 1000rpm but its not racing or anything so I think the needle is a little inaccurate but at 70mph its reading just under 4k which leads me to believe it might be a 1.6 box rather than a 1.9. Either that or the rev counter is very inaccurate.

 

So I was wondering if it was worth fitting a VTS box to bring the revs down a bit and save some fuel?
