Rear Stub Axle Pin 1900

I was checking the car over last night and it looks as tho the rear stub axle pin has sheared it's inner face off. So I'm sure if I tried to tighten the nut up it would just pull the pin through to the outside

I know on a beam i have that on one side the pin has been welded in from the back.

is this a common problem?

next question, where's the best place to good a new pin from? Dealer or are they available aftermarket?

Peugeot Sport France is the cheapest place to get them, half the price of Special tuning :rolleyes:

is it not possible to get std ones? are the PTS ones uprated then?

Nobody does them off the shelf, don't think Peugeot themselves have ever done as I've never seen a listing, though Citroen did list them for the ZX.

 

Wouldn't think for 15 euros odd they'd be strengthened, I think Skip Brown will sell you a second hand one for £15, and Special tuning want about £30+

I'm hoping to get some new stock of these, but it won't be for at least 5-6 weeks. Probably not much use to you at the moment.

Try skip brown, it's where I got mine from and it took 24 hours to get here.

Sorry to hijak the thread, but how do you remove the stubs. Are they threaded and thats what the hexagonal slot is for at the back or are they hammered out from the other side?

Hit 'em!!

Really, they are splined onto the trailing arm, hit them with something large (put an old hub nut on the end to protect the axle if you want to re-use it later!!) and hit it hard towards the middle of the car. Job done!

it's the easiest way to get the bearing off. Then fit new bearing, torque to 250ftlb and then back it off and set to 160ftlbs, i think these are the correct figures
