1.9 Gti Not Starting

Recommended Posts

So, the spark is good, fuel pressure is normal, but it just won't start, looks like the injectors don't open. The car starts and runs when feeding brake cleaner to the engine through the intake, holds rev's nice and so on. I believe to think that there is an electrical problem, cause before that problem, the ground of the fuel pump was very bad and the car wouldn't run, the wires are mostly ruined due to uncompetent installation of an alarm system. Got it to run for like 15 minutes and then bang, this happened. It didn't do any special noises or nothing, it just died like the ignition was cut off. Tried to change the ECU, but nothing changed. Anybody got some ideas, what to check next?

And i would be very thankful for an electric scheme, its pretty hard to just guess what wires are what, if you have never dealt with Peugeots or any France cars.

Sorry for my bad english!

The car is from 1988, so it should be phase I?

The fuel pump relay also controls power to the injectors, so if you've good spark, it might be worth checking whether the injectors have power. The fuel injection really is very basic on these cars, so there is only a small number of things that could be amiss really.

1988 should be a Phase 1.5 btw

Allright, thanks for the info, but the diagram would still be very appreciated, as the electrics guy asked me to search for it, because he doesn't know where to go next without it. He's actually specialised to Audis...
