Coil Compatability

hi

 

i currently have an '88 309 gti which has the bosch dizzy ending 066, but has a lucas coil and ignition amp.

 

do i have to buy like for like, or can i replace the lucas parts with bosch?

 

bit of a grey area for me, and local main dealer.

Yes you can use different brand of coil/amp combo as long as the part No's are suitable for the specific car it should be fine (as stronger output coil could toast the amp or vice versa ..)

 

I currently have Magneti Marelli amp and Bosch coil .. and had before Magneti Marelli coil and Bosch amp all without any issues .. though i've read somewhere that Ducellier amp and Bosch coil combo might be a little bit on a misfiring side sometimes
