Over Rev On Idle Problem

Recommended Posts

spingit

my idle doesn't seem to good, im not sure what these are supposed to idle at?? around rpm i guess but mine starts around that and the revs itself to around 2500rpm, surly it shouldn't do this as when i blip the throttle it goes back down again and then a few seconds later it rise's back up again?? any ideas what the problem could be??

actually i remember noticing under the dizzy cap just below it is a very small fitment for a pipe to be fitted on, im not sure what it is for but there is nothing on it at all!! maybe this could be something to do with it, it is a very small hole and there definitely should be something fitted on it im sure

Look along the inlet tract for a similar fitting, and also near the distributo for a hose that has fallen away.

It is entirely possible for this to cause over-revving on idle as the ignition timing will be wrong.

ok il try and explain this best as i can cause im crap with engines and parts and pretty bad at trying to explain myself so here goes....i had a look at the vacuum advance pipe today and i think i found the hose that is suppose to be connected to it as its the same size and fits on perfectly, iv tried to trace and it and runs to the underneath of where the throttle cable sits as in the half moon shape spindle with the throttle cable on, right underneath it!! can anyone tell me if this is right?? sorry if you cant understand what im trying to explain!

Would a 205 Haynes manual(which you can download for free from a member called Matt on here) and use of the 'Search' function on this site be a good idea for you?
