Gti 6 Rally Car

Hi

I have fitted a 306 GTI 6 engine into my 205 rally car shell but found a problem with the clearance for my sumpguard. There is a part of the sump at the gearbox end that hangs down and I was wondering if anyone knows of a sump that wil fit on the gti 6 engine that has more clearance in that area?

I'm interested in the answers you get , as this is one of the big issues for the engine replacement I'm considering . Ground clearance is a major issue.

Exactly the problem I've had here.

I'll be putting the tin sump + spacer back on. No way I'm lowering the clearance any more than what it was before.

Do you know what sump will fit as an alternative if any?

Thanks Tom

I suppose you could use the spacer plate and 8v tin sump or the tin sump of a non PS 306 S16. The S16 sump has a trap door baffle in as std. Just be careful of clearance for the oil pump pick up. I have found that the strainer on the newer GTi-6 pumps makes it sit slightly lower than the old 1.9 8v / Mi16 ones.

Any Idea if the MI16 sump will fit on using the spacer plate then??

I'd certainly use a tin sump rather than an ali one, especially if you're running a sump guard! :(

Yeah a tin sump will be a lot more forgiving to an impact that the MI16 one.

So what spacer plate and tin sump you guys think would be best for the job?

PS Also baz just to let you know I sent you the cash for the hubs.

I don't think you'd need a spacer plate at all if you use an S16 steel sump, not that they have any less capacity, they're just less square and bulky.

The S16 tin sump seems equivalent to 8v + spacer.
