Tachy Relay Suppliers?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone suggest where to get a tachymetric relay from and what price I should be paying?

I am not 100% sure it will fix the problem, so can't justify spending more than 20 or so quid.

I think its a faulty relay.... problem started as intermittent non-priming of the fuel pump. So I took cover off relay and for a while I have been making the contact manually to prime the system before cranking. Once car starts up it holds the contact closed, as it should, and everything is fine. However, recently this method has started to become more unreliable - i.e. even when the engine is running and I release my fingers from the contact it hasn't "held" and the engine stalls. Giving it some revs and holding it for a longer period of time, about 10 secs, still seems to work but I'm not confident it won't pack in on me.

I'm booked onto the Oulton Day on 27th so last thing I need is electrical gremlins!!!!

GSF used to sell them for £30-35 or so, although I've not checked to see whether or not they still do. Otherwise, just buy a good used one.

GSF list "fuel pump relay" for £47 +VAT - too much. You know anyone with one going spare? 20 quid?

I will put a wanted post and see If anyone on here can get one to me at short notice.

Fair enough, they've clearly gone up in price since I last looked then.

I've got a few spare tachymetric relays in the garage that I'm happy to test on my own car and get you one sent out next week if you like?

Often true with cheap stuff. Can you name and shame some part numbers? Hopefully Anthony will have found a working one and it will solve my problem. No guarantees though, it could be a bad earth...

Crap? its the Bosch type had them fitted on a 1.9 that i have done 40k in without fault, IMO i would rather have a new one than a second hand one.

Sorry to bring this topic back up (and to hi-jack) but would anyone have a spare working tachy relay they'd like to part with? I can only get one from GSF here in Ireland and its up on 65euro which is a bit expensive.

Tanks in advance

Will
