Making Good An Unfortunate Purchase . .

Hello,

Apoligies if this is the wrong section

I managed to join the forum today, but noticed a while ago that I now own a car that gave a lot of you some laughs http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=104667

Right, now there is now way the car is running 155BHP, however it is extremely quick off the mark (comparable to my old MCS works)

There are a couple of issues with the which I wuld like everyones opinion;

How do I check the head / pistons (being ported /forged) easily? (personally I do not think the have any work done)

It has an FSE valves - should I remove it?

As above but the Starchip?

It makes a tapping when warm, no smoke, not loud, just a light tapping not getting louder with revs - is this normal?

Does anybody know of a good rolling road around Bristol / omersetthat I could get a be figure for the car?

I look forward to your responses

Nigel

remove the FSE boost valve. My old car suffered bore wash from one of these at minimum settings.

remove the starchip. The 205 engine is about as complicated as a tractor lol

Look up Mark Shillaber on the devon/cornwall border for a rolling road

Best bet is to remove the inlet manifold and have a look, There are quite a few companies out there that makes things worse instead of better and claim X but never get it.

I don;t mind the old FSE valve if set right, I;ve got one on my CTi and is spot on even on a std engine

The Starchip isnt a chip, as said the ECU is stone age and doesn;t have a Central Eprom, Not seen one but if its the same as the Super chips one it's a couple of varable resistors on a seperate PCB

Thanks for the input!

I have a standard fuel regulator, so I may swap it over. I also have a ported TB and inlet, I have used thse on previous engine with good results but the general consenus here seem to be a big no no.

I take it the manifold is easy to remove, so i will have a look!

(Miles I think I emailed you re the 4.4cwp on that auction site, I am still looking to get it done, need to make sure the car is running right first)

Mark - No I don't think so, although I spoke to a guy in Blockbuster's in a White Rallye. The car is graphite grey with white wheels (No rear seats)

Miles - That would be good, unlike the previousowner I don't want to 150mph :) Been there done that
