Air Filter For Jenveys On Gti6 Engine

Recommended Posts

jimmer

can any body reccomend a filter for the above setup? I run a td rad in std height so space is tight. My engine is around 230 bhp ish at flywheel. I've been looking at the pipercross air boxes because it looks like they help keeping the dB's down, does any body else use this setup?

Any help much appreciated.

sounds like you need to drop the rad or use a shorter one like BBM supply, will give you a lot more room to play with.

missed the last one.

the back plate/airbox is Jenvey ABB2-50 and the filter is the Jenvey sausage type, actually it's a Pipercross.

The front of the trumpets look very close to the front of the filter - this is almost exactly the same set-up I have on mine, except I have ITG, and when I took it to be mapped I found that taking the filter off added another 7BHP, so I'm looking at alternatives now - maybe dropping the rad and putting a deeper filter on.

Hi there, do you mind posting pictures of your setup so that I can have it as reference for my friend? Also, how does ITG filter mount onto it's back plate and does ITG make any back box similar to Pipercross?

I understand having the filter OFF do release more power significantly but it may also shorten the life of the engine or even a sudden death.

Dropping the radiator seems the best to potentially release more power by further extend the trumpets, but it will be a very difficult task because we do have a/c radiator in between the water radiator and fan crowling.

Here you go:

The back plate is basically a flat piece of aluminium and then the filter clips on the front - ITG will make them whatever size you want, just give them the clearances all the way around.

I originally ran mine without a filter on the track, but got scared! Now need to find a better solution so I don't lose so much power - for the moment I have put on shorter trumpets so that there is more space inside the filter.

But as i have heard before you do need a different for different length of trumpets, don't you? Also, too short the overall length hurts the power, doesn't it? Mind tell me the length of your tb? Mine is about 90mm, so I have to cut the airbox/backplate to give room for the injectors, otherwise a simple backplate will do the job nicely.

Stu

Here's mine mate, i had to trim the slam panel, but it just clears the rad, i looked everywhere for something smaller but kept coming back to the ITG one, not cheap though.
