Injector Cleaning...is This Worth Doing?

Recommended Posts

lagonda

Just wondered if it was worth having this done. The car has done 187000 miles and has full history, but no indication of any work on the injectors. Have always run it on Shell V Power, but not whilst abroad, & I'm abroad most of the time now.

Am I really likely to see consumption/performance/improvement in running benefits?!

The ASNU machine is pretty good, made a massive difference to my fueling on my 1.6. Prior to the treatment, it wouldnt rev cleanly above 4k, now it pulls all the way to the line.

Bosch Centres are just those trained and authorised in Bosch, most of them use ASNU cleaners

Why is life never easy?!

Spoken to an injector cleaner specialist (Pratts Garage, Pontyclun) & the guy there reckoned reconditioning/ultrasonic cleaning etc might not be a good idea with old/worn injectors (mine are nearly 20 years old & done 187000 miles). He felt strong concern that the car could run worse afterwards.

So...new question....has anyone regretted having their injectors cleaned?

Mine were 20 years old and 116,000 miles and other than adjustment of the A/F ratio afterwards it was no problem, they should be able to do that after the cleaning.

Thanks...will go ahead. Unfortunately Shorts told me they don't do petrol injector cleaning, & Pratts are really too far away without return transport. Found "Mad Professor" on Group Buys offering a postal service using Asnu cleaner so am going for that...just hope post doesn't mess up.

Just got mine back from cleaning, the were in decent nick but the flow went from (cc's);

53, 53, 50, 51 to 55,55,55,55. Thats after 90k. Worth the £40 for peace of mind more than any performance improvment really.

Just got mine back....used Mad Professor postal service as recommended & on Group Buys...very quick & helpful service. Mine's a 1.6 so hopefully this explains lower flow rates (different injectors of course). These injectors have done 187000 miles. Before: 41 41 41 40...after 41 41 41 41! So I guess this shows using Shell V Power really does keep your injectors clean! Spray pattern on 2 were only "Fair", now they're all "Good". Unfortunately the car is still cutting out so difficult to judge improvement, but it does seem to be picking up better, on the odd occasion that the strike committee are stopping for a tea break.
