i think its something to do with the brake servo it runs from that big circle thing behind the steering wheel in engine bay to the inlet manifold - anyway its frayed and leaking its not a rubber pipe but more materially. What is it please and where do i get a new one .

sounds like a servo pipe it should be rubber under the material and if the material has frayed dont worry its just a cover.but if you say its leaking you should hear a sucking sound. local factors should have some rubber pipe just cut it to the right length

get some pics up if you can so we can be sure

As above it's the vacuum pipe for the servo. If it's leaking you'll notice the brake pedal going stiffer. As for a replacement you can use any hose that's long/wide enough and stiff enough.

Yup. Servo vacuum pipe.

Does anyone happen to know why it's wrapped in woven fabric the way it is? Never quite understood that one.

The woven fabric covering would normally imply strengthening to withstand pressure...but this is a vacuum hose! Often seen that type of covering on petrol hoses for other cars....perhaps Peugeot used it because it fits.
