Anyone Know Anything About Saxo Vtr's

hiya all

the wifes saxo has developed a very annoying problem, when its cold the orange transmisson light comes on the dash then flashes for a few seconds and puts the car into a limp mode

if you turn the ignition on and off it will come out of limp mode but the light is still on, it will do this three or four times then stops once the car is warm (but the light stays on)

on the diagnostics machine it comes up "random missfire on cylinder 4" id imagine its not mechanical as surely it wouldn't clear it just by turning the engine on and off?

ive took it to citroen and they were as handy as a bag of a*seholes they tried swapping the coil pack but with no joy

its getting expensive now as we've tried a new coilpack, full service (all filters, oil, plugs and leads) new idle valve, new crank sensor, new cat, new lambda sensor and a new head!!!

im sure its something minor but its costing a bomb trying to find out what it is

im thinking the ecu next but that'll cost a small fortune and theres no guarantees that its that

the car is a 2002 "52" plate phase 2 vtr, with the 3 plug ecu

cheers

paul

Ive had this before,

Had a good look around and it turned out to be the wire that came off under the seat,

I had it valeted and the hoover had knocked it off the connection.

Took 30 seconds to put it right again, maybe this helps?

The seatbelt pre-tensioner wiring being lose or damaged (usually from seat being moved back and forward a lot) will set off the airbag warning light, shouldn't do anything to the engine management light at all.

It could possibly be a injector that is faulty,i know they used to give a bit of bother in the 206's anyway.
