Hubcentric Vs Lugcentric

Recommended Posts

i'm puting steelies back on the car after having alloys for a while, and was just wondering, as they are not peugeot steelies they have a different centre bore, so i've been looking for some spigot rings to create a hubcentric mounting so to speak. but have just come across a bit of info on tinterweb (so possibly lies) that says that steelies tend to be 'lugcentrically' located. ie. the taper of the bolts hold them in the correct possition.

so do i need to use spigot rings as well or will the bolts suffice?

if, as i suspect i will need spigot rings anyway, does anybody know where to get some that have a straight edge for steelies, rather than sloped for fitting alloys?

i realise thats not a very clear discription. but if you look at your average spigot ring it has a sort of 4mmish slope at the base for the alloy to sit on. but as steelies mount flat face to flat face i dont think this would be appropriate.

thanks

john

imo you need the hub lip for a wheel to be secure/wobble free. relying on the bolts to hold a wheel on is a bad idea imo.

that was my feeling i think i'll get the spigot rings anyway, its just trying to find ones that will fit steelies properly ;)
