What Would Cause A Disc To Crack?

I've just been sent some pictures by someone with Brembo max discs, they have cracks all over the disk surface. The disc has a few grooves but the stress fractures are not all originating from these points.

Has the disc set got a fault or have they been overheated or something.

Heres a picture, note all the small fractures all over the surface.

Heat + evil pads +wear.

Just heat fractures that, overabuse/s*it pads.

 

The groove has initiated a much larger crack though, but heat + abuse and wear will eventually cause that on any brake disc.
