Misfire On A 1.9

Recommended Posts

dodsworth_gti

hi all, done a search and picked some bits up,but id still liuke to get as many answers as i can before i set to trying to fix it

the problem isnt to bad in 1st,2nd and 3rd,but gets really bad in 4th and 5th

the misfire is getting worse all the time, some times it can be the odd, deep flatspot, and some times it can be a constant splutter

should also add the engine seems to have lost a bit of power

all this has come over the last 3 weeks

when i bought it about a month ago it was only a very slight flatspot

i found one of the leads to be damaged,so put some 8mm's i had of my old mi16 and a set of new ngk plugs, but this has done nothing

any where else i should be looking for this before i start as i have neveer had this problem before

many thanks

ben

If you eliminate that, consider getting the injectors ultrasonically cleaned at your local Ansu injector service centre

tried a different ignition amp, didnt work, not found a bosch one yet, although i can get new ones for 30 quid from ymf so that might be worth doing and they say they are bosch ones

put a new dizzy cap and rotor arm,and repaired the shoddy conector coming from the dizzy signal lead so hoping tonight ill see a big improvement

but what if i dont???????

As I said above, get the injectors cleaned, mine had a nasty misfire under acceleration and higher speeds until I had them cleaned

Dodsworth, if you want a Bosch Amp, PM me your address and I'll drop a spare in the post this week. Can't guarantee it's 100% but I've checked it on my car and it seemed to work OK. 'Acquired' it at a scrappies so freebee if you want it.
