Dying Bucket Seat Covers

I am toying with the idea of dying the covers on my sparcos black to tidy them up a bit.

 

Does anyone know if this will work and if so which sort of Dye I should use?

 

I’d rather not use the washing machine type ones.

Does that just mix with cold water and you leave the item to soak for a while?

 

I’m assuming it’s colour fast when done and won’t end up all of me once I use the seat?
