Std 1.9 Gti Airbox

Recommended Posts

pablo

Thinking of removing the big green cone on my turbo 8v and refitting a 1.9 std airbox. Reason being I want the car to look as original as possible (more sleeper that way!)

Will it flow well enough though? I can replace the filter with a K&N/Pipercross or whatever if that helps.

Cheers

can't see why not, its inlets and outlets are larger than the ones on the turbo, and the road going 205 T16 and 405 T16 used the same airbox and filter.

But you'll lose a lot of the lovely turbo spooling and whooshing sound effects....

Thats part the appeal of a turbo motor isn't it??

I'll try and get you a decent picture hopefully tonight, the engine bays can look ok but there is a lot of stuff going on so they always look pretty cramped so that minimalist look is pretty hard to get I would say!

look at the negative boost articles, it will show you how to modify standard airboxes to minimise intake restriction.
