Got a problem with dashboard lights and sidelights coming on when you turn the ignition on and want it checked out (306 HDI)

not just a dodgy light switch/stalk?

I've tried changing the stalk and there was no change in it.

 

As soon as you put the key in and turn it just the once then all dash lights come on, including the heater panel ones and all the switches illuminate.

 

Oddly (and no doubt connected) the stereo plays up if you have the main beam lights on when you turn the ignition off.

check the battery earth cable at the gearbox, common for breaking and giving allsorts of weird problems
