Ignition Amp

Recommended Posts

Do all 205 GTIs have the ignition amp, ie the older ones which had a standard coil as oppose to the small square one on the inlet manifold?

The car is a 205 GTI running on carbs and I that amp is just one more thing to go wrong.

Cheers

Ben

Yes, you need to retain the ignition amp - all 205 GTi's, and indeed most petrol Peugeot/Citroens up until the mid-90's had them.

No, not required for GTi-6's - as far as I'm aware, the ignition drivers are built into the ECU on all Magneti-Marelli management (like GTi-6 uses) in the past 15 years or so
