Hi Paul:

I can't say 'why' your engine seems to be sitting high, but I can say I think your suspiscions are correct. (Been drinking so excuse the spelling here).

In the picture below, you can see that the threads on my vertical, O/S engine mount clear the bracket/elbow considerably; perhaps by 1/4 inch. On your pics they are either flush or slightly below the line of the bracket/elbow.

Also the metal of shell surrounding the mount on yours is almost flush with the elbow whereas mine the elbow is about 1" lower.

Something isn't right there on yours, and that drop if you can get it, will see things sitting at a much better angle.

Is there a gap under the bracket, or is it sitting down fully against the rubber mount?

Triple bubble. Sorry.

BUT, also note that mine is with an iron XU10 block, which is 12mm taller than an XU9 alloy block.

Cheers for that pic rich, my mount sits about 5-6mm lower than the body work, some what less than your 1", the rubber mount is screwed up tight agains the body and the alloy mount tight against the ruber mount,

Im not sure if theres a difference between the TU and XU mounts, i have a spare mount in the garage il fit tomorrow, either the mount on the car is the XU or the mount in the gagae is the XU, il compare them when i swap it to see if there is any diferences.

A few years back i bought that mount from peugeot and had the same problem, it must have been a good inch bigger than the used one.

I ended up fitting the old one to get some MC clearance and fitted washers behind the buffers to make a tighter fit, all this as a 'temporary' fix, but as usual still lives today
