Radiator

I noticed at the weekend that my radiator is quite loose.

Is this normal and what should hold it in?

It normally slots in at the bottom, then two sping clips at the top. Then tops hose and bottom hose sort of hold it in place. Mine is the same.

The spring clips are attached the fan shroud and hold the rad in place along with the hoses and bottom locating holes as mentioned.

Is the rad loose in the cowling, or is the cowling loose in the bodyshell?

There should be some rubber buffers that support the bottom of the cowling on the cross-member, but these are easily lost making everything rattle around.

I can't really see, but I think that must be the problem - it doesn't seem high enough to enable the spring clips on the top to hold it in place - do the rubber buffers at the bottom lift it up?

The rad is held into the cowling by its clips at the top and two pins that push into rubber bushes in the cowling at the bottom. The buffers support the cowling so won't affect the way the clips hold the rad. The other thing to check is the rubber bushes where the rad is located into the cowling at the bottom. These can also go missing...

(Can't believe how complicated I'm managing to make this sound - it's just a rad, a cowling, two springs, and four bits of rubber...)
