Oil Pump Change?

Recommended Posts

Dave G

Im looking at having to change the oil pump on my 1.9. I noticed the gauge having a magic monet after a launch the other night of the lights and although i could have put that down to oil surge etc it has since been going down. It used to hold around 3/4 95% of the time, bar every now and then dropping a few needles and raises a few depnding on temp and revs etc.

Its drop around two needles worth at the same engine speed every day now for the past week so im down to half at best.

Can the pump be changed easily or it is a crank out job etc? how to maybe would be great an opinions on the sittuation incase im missing anything. running 15/40 oil by the way

What's the oil level like (and do you have the correct dipstick) and when was the oil last changed? Would check all that first if you've not already.

oil changed less than 500 miles ago, was a double change with a weeks driving then another change for good measure using a mann filter which i have ordered again incase it has f***ed up. oil level is on max i pulled over as soon as i saw it flicker that night. i have a orange top dipstick which is twisted all the way down apart from the part where the level markers are?

Check you have a good connection where the wire plugs onto the sender as mine was doing what yours was and it turned out to be a dodgy connection.
