You would be better off going for the Mintex 1144's, yes they are more expensive but it's worth it.

I'm going to renew the discs and pads front and rear. Was planning on getting standard discs and uprated pads. What would you advise? And where from?

Fair comment from Golaith. I had the basic Mintex pads on my Nissan. I kept cooking them in no time, smoking etc. Surprisingly the run in the mill Halfords pads are better!

Jesus - the last Hellfrauds own brand pads I had on a car had all the feel, bite and stopping power of a block of wood, so that's a pretty damning verdict there

Clearly you've been spending to much time on the breaks :)

the ebay brakes are just OEM. They are no better than standard no matter what the ad says...

Yup! Get them in a better compound, 1144 are good for road use. I have 1155's on mine and they make it around the 'ring with minimal cookage.

I had standard pads in for a week from halfrauds, cooked them twice and then threw them in the bin. M1144's kept me safe until it was 307 time.

mintex 1144's used on scoobs gave off a lot of brake dust, most peeps used ferodo ds 2500's, dont know if its same for pugs :)

I got a Mintex disc & pad set for my 306 for less than I could on ebay from my local motor factors so check around.

Ebay is not always the cheapest place for the same thing.

I find them very dusty though. :)

Graham.
