Normal Warm Idle Psi

Recommended Posts

driversdomainuk

Hi

My 205 Mi has been rebuilt recently. I am getting around 20-25psi at warm idle - when the engine has been running 10 mins at standstill...

However, after I have finished a hillclimb run and it is at idle after a serious hard.high rev bit of driving the PSI at idle is around 9-12 PSI.....directly after I pull up..

I know 20-25 PSI is ok, but what about the hot idle figure..?

Thanks

Rob

Is this on a proper mechanical (or calibrated electronic) oil pressure gauge, and roughly what idle speed is the engine ticking over at? What oil pump and oil pump drive cog are you running? What oil are you running?

9-12psi sounds low to me unless it's ticking over at low revs, especially as I wouldn't expect the oil to be especially hot after a single hillclimb run lasting what, a minute or two (compared to say several laps on a trackday for example)?

Hi

This is an aftermarket mechanical one. I am running an idle of 1,000 rpm and am running a new standard oil pump (FAI)

I have changed all bearings, oil pump, even a new recon head which has improved as before after a run the oil pressure was 0 psi!!!

Miles

Sounds low to me as well, I;d get a OE pump in there as I;ve only had issues with cheap pattern one's

whats the oil temps like, the extra heat from the run making the oil thin?

Think the oil temp is ok....95% of the time a warm idle is 20 to 25 psi...its only after a trashing...
