Mi16 Ignition Amp

Hi all

 

I had a severe missfire a while ago and it turned out that after replacing the ignition amp all was fine. The car has been used a few times since and the otherday the misfire is back again. Just like it was before. Looks like the ignition amp has gone again.

Now, is it just bad luck that 2 have gone so quickly or could something be knocking them out? Would a faulty alternator cause this? Also what about not having the thermal paste on the back of it.

 

What is the best make to get as a replacement and where is cheapest?

bosch, known good s/h one is cheapest. you need the thermal paste to keep them cool. was it bolted tight to the ally plate?

It had no thermal paste. I believe it was nice and tight.

Do they just fail or could something knock it out?
