Engine Back Firing Through Inlet

Recommended Posts

M_R_205

My Mi16 engine is back firing through the inlet, it has done it once or twice before but more oftern today for some reason, it only seems to be doing it through TB on the cambelt side of the engine, iv made a short video of it here

Any ideas what is causing it? the engine has been freshly rebuilt and has so far coverd zero miles but i have ran the cams in for 20 mins as recomended,

It seems to do it mainly at idle, more so just after bliping the throttle, also the AFR is around 15.2 at idle and when i rev it slightly it goes up to 14.5

Cheers for any advice

Paul.

Normally firing through the inlet means its a bit too lean. Could it be your temp sensor or AFM?

Yep. Can also be caused by a leak, such as a throttle body injector hole or similar not being bunged properly.

sounds like its going to be a simple fix as it is running a little lean with an afr of 15.2, and i have just drilled the manifold on the same port to supply a vacume to the servo and fuel pressure regulator, il check theres no leaks and play with the idle fueling too

Cheers

Paul.
