Power Steering Rack

I am just about to replace a gaitor on my PS rack. The only thing is I cannot see how I will get it on. It is the long side one. Do I just try and stretch / manipulate it over the stud ? Or am I missing something simple to get them apart ?

Either that or take the rack apart, so you can position the gaitor before you insert the rack into the body.

I believe if you remove the pinion assembly the rack can be withdrawn from its housing. I haven't done it myself, but read on here that's how it's done. Do a search!!
