I have a Gentry engine with head gasket issues and a D6B engine with a dodgy block.

Can i combine the good bits of both engines in order to make one good one? Is it just a case of putting the D6B internals and head on the Gentry block, or is it a bit more involved?

Which code is that Gentry engine ? DFZ perhaps ?!

(they didn't make Gentry models for EU market so i dunno what kind of engines they have .. i guess low CR one , DFZ or DDZ ..)

IIRC you could drop the 9JA head on the gentry bottom end for a higher compression combination, ideal for a cam

Damir

It is the DFZ engine (105bhp) that i am hoping to improve on.

That sounds like a plan. I'd prefer not to do too much engine work as it's my first attempt at rebuilding one. Would it be comparable power wise to the D6B engine?

It's my wifes car and she's only looking for a bit more performance than there is at present and i don't have the budget to go mad on the engine.

So it's a DFZ , nice one !

It'll be even better than std. D6B engine :)

A WP says , bolt the D6B head on and you'll have an nice ,cheap built, engine with loads of torque  .. as the pistons in the DFZ engine/block are different (with smaller 9cc dish and different compression height ) so you'll have higher CR (compression ratio) of around 11.1 mark .. but you'll need to modify the dizzy advance curve in order to make it work properly (recurving job costs only 20.00 quid at H&H and it's a MUST , without this , on a std. 1.9 dizzy it'll work and run like a crap .. ) , as it'll detonate low down on std. 1.9 advance curve , and you'll have to use 97/98 grade petrol (the higher octane petrol the better but 97/98 is fine)

Damir
