Re-using Oil Cooler

should i re-use my oil cooler which was on my engine when the conrod removed itself from the piston and disintergrated the block. There were shards of alloy/ steel every where in the sump. Is there a good way to rinse it out or should i throw it awayand get a new one.

a good flush thru and it should be fine IMO.

Throw it away and buy a new one. The oil cooler is cheap in comparison to what you will spend on bearings/crank grind/oil pump/ gaskets etc.
