Non Starter.....

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Went to start the 205 after a few weeks of no use and guess what..?? it didn't start, surprise!!

It suffers from the common click, click then it will start, so my question is has the starter motor finally gone or is the battery?

I have power, radio, lights blah, blah - but no click, click - it doesn't even try to turn over - battery too flat or starter dead??

Any suggestions would be good.

If it is the starter how will I get it going to get to the garage?

jump start it if it starts its the battery if it doesnt its the starter

if its the starter bump start it

if you take off the alternator you can undo the starter moter bolts slide it out and get and get it tested

Put your headlights on when you try to start it, if they totally dim its the battery, if they dont its the starter.

Thanks for replies.

How difficult is it to replace the starter motor, is it a DIY job - bearing in mind I'm not a big mechanic or anything.

Probably only a bad connection at the brown multiplug, which is "conveniently" situated under the AFM. Use a length of wire with a female lucar terminal on one end, take the solenoid connector off the back of the starter (the thin wire) and plug that in it's place. Touch the bared other end of the wire on battery positive terminal. If your solenoid then operates properly & engine spins over, you'll know it's just a bad connection, as stated, probably in the brown multiplug.
