What Route Do I Take Now?

Recommended Posts

simsk

hello, ive been struggling to get my 205 mi16 going for quite some time know :o . At first i was missing a bit of mi16 loom which was running with the engine. Giving the car to some people that could hopefully fill the missing part and get it going! turns out that its had to have been stripped right back to wires so they could work it out and unfortunately they cant identify what ECU it is either.

Im just wondering wether to go back to the 8v loom with the dizzy adapter and buy a 8v coil etc..

or try and get an mi16 loom and ECU and get that working :P

the problem is my 8v loom doesnt look very pretty anymore and i read in a thread that with the dizzy adapters your better off redrilling and tapping the holes because there normally in the wrong place.

For 90 quid i would have thought they would be a bit better than that.

So im just confused as what the best route would be to take from here. Any help and info is much appreciated, cheers

Find someone who can do the work firstly, Not wanting to sound big headed but the 16v looms are so easy to trace or re-wire it's silly.

But I know most Garage's know very little about looms and you can hardly blame them when working on soo many different types of car, But again some of the so called pro job's I get to see around 80% of them are very poor

If you still have the 16v loom send it upto me

I think the problem was that the loom wasnt original and the guy who made it (like you say "so called experts did a pretty poor job") had re spliced alot of stuff, changed colours and hidden alot wires within the loom. So they did stuggle but they arent experts. Im not sure what sort of state the loom is in now since theyve de rapped it. Wether it would be able to sort it out.

cheers
