Rubber Fuel Hose

Would i be able to replace the metal fuel pipe with rubber and the car go through an mot?

 

 

mine is rusty and doesn't look very good at all

 

i have some proper rubber fuel hose but would this be a suitible repair and go through a test?

Mine passed, with a small section - actually, about 2 foot! of rubber hose connecting the rusty old steel one.

 

Another job to put on the winter list!

 

It's just jubilee clipped onto the pipe at both ends, then cable tied to the other hose. Saying this, my friendly tester does have a soft spot for 205's

 

Plumbers merchants sell the correct diameter copper pipe if you want to do it properly

thats what i though about it being secure but wanted a 2nd opinion.

 

is copper pipe ok for fuel ? what is it originally steel?

I have rubber fuel hose right from the tank to the pipe below the fuel filter & its passed through the MOT several times now.

 

As long as it is properly rated fuel hose & not jsuyt a scrap of pipe it shuld be fine imo.

 

The proper fuel lines aren't much from Peugeot (~£20 iirc) but you have to shape them to fit the car & fit new olives on the end for the fuel filter joint.
