Headlamps Dimming/fading Whilst Driving/

Headlamps on my 1990 205 dim slightly as I am driving along, they look as though they are flickering but they are dimminig a little and then ok. They also dim as the car drops to tickover then perk up as the revs go up. Cant find any loose wires so could it be the alternator that is dimming the lights and dashlights at 70 mph on the motorway as well as round town.

Looks as though I'm flashing people but they are not going off, just dimming and back to bright.

any help appreciated.

it will be either the alternator (highest probability ) or the earth blocks behind the lights

My bet on alternator too i have similar problem (diode plate) one is broken...

Was hoping it wasn't the alternator but everything is pointing to it, might have one somewhere.
