Hi guys,

I know a guy who got a 405 GRDT box and need to check if:-

i) The box is a BE3 type box

ii) The Final Drive with CWP is 3.47

I've read on here its the GRD which is 3.47

Also about to purchase a clutch. Can I confirm that a can use a with a BE3 box (I have flywheel from Mi16)

a) Mi16 1.9 clutch

ii) Mi16 2.0 clutch

Appreciate the help guys

Hi guys,

Can someone help me on this. Its just that the guy with gearbox wants to scrap car an I don't want to commit without knowing the CWP and final drive ratios and also wether the box is in fact a BE3.

Sorry for keep bringing this up.

Thanks guys

Oh yeah,

With reguards to the clutch I don't need to straight away because without me buiding up the box I'm not going to purchase. Also if anyone does know of someone with a 3.47 cwp + final drive I'll take it off them.

Thanks again,

If reverse in under fifth gear then its a Be3 but it should be stamped on the casing near the diff cover anyway.

Without taking the diff cover off to check for the stamp on the crownwheel its agoing to be a guess if it actaully has the 3.47:1 FD fitted, assuming its the correct box for the car & hasn't been swapped at any time in its life.

After a quick look on service box the final drive on the 405 TD box is 19 x 77 (4.053).

Only takes 10 minutes to do if the box is out of the car & then you can be sure what you are getting.

It should be stamped onto the crownwheel, for the 3.47 fd it should be stamped 59 x 17.

As for which clutch, use a 1.9 Mi16 clutch to be sure it fits & operates the same way.

Graham.
