Flywheel Cracks

Just in the middle of swapping my mi16s round and after removing the clutch on the older(er) engine I noticed a load of cracks in the flywheel friction surface, then I noticed the new(er) engine had the same long cracks in various places around it.

 

Having seen what can happen when a flywheel gives way, is this something to worry about? It's not like I experienced any excessive vibrations or any symptoms of anything untoward.

is it only likely to cause excessive clutch wear then? or could it cause the whole thing to go bang?

I would NOT have that back in the car considering it sits 4 feet away from your groin spinning at some 6 7k rpm.

have it faced and see what it's like afterwards, put quite a few clutches back on with small cracks in them but that was on HGV's where the flywheel is considerably thicker.

Oh, forgot about RHD! Too early in the morning I guess. Flywheels are a more sensitive issue with LHD after I've seen a flywheel spin out through the radiator and fly out into the sunset.
