Hi Guys,

looks good mate, intercooler looks a bit big and out of place IMO tho.

what power you hoping for?

I have seen a 8v make about 260 bhp before.

If I see 250-260 ATW i will be happy.

I know what you mean about the intercooler im not too sure on it myself.

an uprated or poss even standard evo 6 cooler would fit on and can be hidden so it looks much nicer and should handle 300ish bhp with no probs.

maybe even paint your cooler black as for me it ruins what looks like a very tidy installation.

Looks very nice indeed!

That intercooler does look like it would be better suited in the bathroom warming towels though. Get that sorted as per above ;)

Certainly look's like it will be pretty furious

a cossie 4x4 (not 2wd)cooler might even be an option as they are usually ok for about 300 bhp and is prob 1/4 the size of that massive one.

may as well get it dynod 1st on that cooler thoe.

then at least youll know if it drops power with a smaller one on it if you do change,

looks good, only thing is its missing 8 valves. ;)

im not sure he'd go through all this trouble and forget to put his 8 valves in ? guessing the heads been rebuilt ;)

joke, looks realy good tho, turbo looks big enough, the cooler will be ott

engine killer

looks very professional, especially the strut top

will the intake pipe bang on the cam pulley when accelerating hard? ;)

The engine is on uprated mounts so does not move enough to hit the pipe.

The strut top were made by me and my engineering friend, were fairly easy actually and my AST's slot into them beautifuly.

I just want to see how much power can be made from 8 valves to be a bit different. I have heard the standard inlet can be resrictive but i dont know what else i could use?

Cheers for your comments guys

Looks pretty goods, as said nice strut tops, must be able to get some mean camber on there!!

Think the turbo looks a touch small though

As for different inlets, the 205 GTi one can bolt on and the ports aren't as small as the turbo inlet, but the head needs matching to the inlet abit then.

Enjoy it!

Did you have any clearance issues with that type of manifold and the master cylinder?

Looks good though, well apart from the oversized intercooler, I have a 2wd cossie one and they are supposed to be ok for upto 250bhp ish, the 4wd ones are the same face area but have a thicker core and are supposed to be ok upto 300bhp.

I expect you will make good power as I have always thought the most restrictive area was the exhaust side so now you have a different manifold and turbo and hopefully a different cam I reckon you should make about 280bhp if you run decent boost i.e 1bar+

For clearance i had to make a pedal box and use banjo fittings for the resevoirs oh yeh and i had to cut some of the bulkhead aswell.

I have a cosworth 4x4 intercooler but i could not make it fit properly.

I have a stage 3 cat cams cam so should be ok and yeh im thinking about running just over a bar boost.

Do you guys think i will have problems with the intercooler then?

Cheers

The only problem I can see is its fecking enormous!!

You don't need to fit a smaller one, but that thing kinda ruins any subtlety of what is an otherwise pretty sweet conversion.

Tickling the balls of the dragon here, (as usual), but 260bhp ATW is more ATW IMO than a group B T16 205 rally car, surely? (see below before ranting please)

I say this because of the recent 'Glowing Exhaust' thread with the T16 showing 303BHP. If that's ATW, then I fully understand that. If it's at the fly, then surely that back-equates to around 250-260 ATW, and that's from a custom, race-tuned 16v 1.8 turbo engine?

This sounds to me very much like a number hunt, which is fine if that's what you like. A huge turbo will produce huge figures, but IMO not a very driveable or reliable car.

Good luck. I shall eat humble pie if necessary. :)

Id say it was ATW and 20+ years old technology race-tuned 16v 1.8 turbo engine. Things move on, and engine technology progresses rapidly.

plus that race tuned 1.8 16v was de-tuned to 303bhp

Were they not pushing between 500-600 bhp on some stages in Evo 2 guise?

sorry to stray off topic.

any pics of the whole car?

Here is one after i had it sand blasted

jenvey037.jpg

And one after i painted it

nokia060.jpg

I will take some more pictures of the complete car as it is now if you like but its unfinished

In repy to the power thing, I have free use of a rolling road so i want to see what power can be made from an 8 valve but it will be mapped back down to sensible power for driving.

Cheers
