Quaife Question

Recommended Posts

floodys

just want someone to answer me a quick thing about quaife, since fitting it the car seems to pull to the kerb a little, now i dont know if it may be my wishbone balljoint a bit shot or i had a thought that with the quaife it puts more power to the N/s wheel as its a shorter driveshaft? can someone just put my mind straight so i know the prob isnt the quaife!! (hopefully!)

Probably just down to road camber to be honest. Worth checking that nothing is worn out though.

It wont be the driveshafts as the free movement is equal length.

get your tracking checked, make sure your wheels are balanced, check they are same psi.

If im not mistaken, the diff gives the same power delivery to both wheels, so if when you floor it, pulling you from one side to another, shows that it is working by pulling through the traction of the one wheel with most grip (dont know if that makes sense to you at all but its what ive always thought)

they will highlight any faults or weaknesses in the front suspension be it a balljoint top mount bearing, top mount rubber wishbone bush track rod end etc.

I've driven a few cars with diffs and the only time you noticed them was in cornering when you were coming on or off the power, lift off and they tend to tuck in quite sharply if you're not used to it, plant it and you tend to go round a lot quicker rather than wash out in a cloud of smoke like you do with an open diff.

As above, suggests it's highlighting another fault on the suspension, and it's a nasty quaife.

Check the alignment, bush's top mounts, TRE's and ball joints, tyre PSi and failing that rear beam mounts,
