Speed G/box Swap Problems

Recommended Posts

aCe

Right this morning i have removed my 1.6 g/box to swap it for a speed gti-6 (earlier one i believe?)

Problem i have is i'm unsure what release bearing to use? The 205 doesn't fit even when i have tried to alter it, i presume i need a 306 one but can i use one from any of the model range and will it be ok on a normal 205 pressure plate?

Also what have people done about the clutch cable arrangement?

Thank you in advance

Swap the Arm to the 205 one, easy as that, Using the 306 stuff is a bodge/cheapskate way

they use a pull clutch, like all 2.0 16v pug engines.

a few different ways around it, one is to use the pull clutch (you'll need the 215mm flywheel for that, you don't say which engine you have) but I'm not sure which cable would be used.

the other is to swap the clutch arms for push type ones and use a BE3 cable

how can i use the 205 arm, the 205 one comes out the front of the g/box where as the 6 speed doesnt even have a hole for it to come out of?

its a standard 1.6 engine

Miles means the BE3 arm, you'll need a be3 release bearing if its a BE1 coming off.

new problem, g/box all in but the N/s (short) driveshaft will not go all the way in.

I have measured the distance from the old box and its more from the seal to the gearing in the middle?
