Phase 2 Dash Into Phase 1 Car

Recommended Posts

Guest PacMan

Just got myself an 86 1.6 GTi, but the dash is a bit rickety with holes drilled in odd places and bits hanging off here and there, so i was wondering if i got the Phase 2 dash out of a later car, will it fit ok?

Anyone else done this? Is there anything i should know before attempting it, like will all the wiring match up and stuff? I expect it will physically fit, i'm just worried that i'll run into problems with the heater controls, clocks, etc.

Cheers.

Sounds good.

Will i need to get all the wiring loom from behind the dash back to the fuse board?

Is there any problems that i'm likely to encounter?

the ph2 dash has a plate welded to the bulkhead that the dash bolts on to the ph1 dosnt have this plate so youll have to come up with a way of fixing it on will fit with out it but might rattle a little more

Is it the sort of plate you could make up yourself? Or would it be possible to remove from the Phase 2 car and fit to the Phase 1?

I cant recall that plate, I converted two and had no problems.Except you need the heater section, the upright garnishes and the steering pole.
