Idle & General Running Issues

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Couldn't find much on the search as i seem to have various issues all rolled into one.

Right first of when i start the engine from cold it revs up to about 2k then drops and idles fine at about 1.1k. thats normal hear you say!

issues start when i go up the road and get to a junction it decides to stick at just over 2k untill i give it a bit of a tap on the throttle and it then drops when cold it drops to just over 1k. Next thing is it does this when warm aswel but when it drops back to idle it decides to drop to about 500 then rev back up to just over 1k then it will keep doing this.

also while its hot or cold its very judery under accerleration or deceleration. it seems a lot worse when its hot though.

the above "hunting" for revs is very intermitant and doesnt always do it. it only seems to do it if ive given it a little bit of stick and i mean a little bit. IE if im poteling about town it wont do it but it is very kangeroo like if it doesnt do it

sometimes it will randomly just rev right up to about 5 and keeps climbing untill i turn the engine off. this is also intermitent

it seems like its over fueling quite a bit aswell at the moment as im runng a standard exhaust but it pops a bit :S

any help appriciated

thanks

Graham

Sounds like a worn throttle body. A very common problem now with 1.9 Mi16s
