Failed On Emissions In Mot

Recommended Posts

springs

Hi all.

just had MOT on my 205 which is failed on. one of the things it failed on is the exhaust emissions which the hydrocarbon content was excessive.

Max 1200ppm

actual value: 1784ppm

I'm not sure what it could be but when i was running the car last night it was back firing / popping a little bit. the engine has had a miss fire since I've had the engine.. could this be the cause? the last MOT it went through about a month ago it passed the emissions fine.

Excess HC is unburned fuel, simple as that, so if you have a misfire you need to sort this first of all.

correct. it is a gti-6 engine.

I've got some new spark plugs to put in the car. just getting time to fit.. dont really want to be buying lambda sensors and coils.. spent enough on the car as it is..

I've got 4 good coils from a running engine if you need any.
