The Gti loom is predominatly an enclosed affair. Ie Most wires run from engine to ECU. Which obviously you can remove. This will leave you with just the two brown plugs under the dash and the loom from those which are mainly guages, +ve -ve, starter, fuel pump. I see no reason why you couldnt just re wire those to the appropriate senders on the TU engine. Then all youve to do is the dizzy, ign amp wiring and would be away.

Maybe even the Tu engine loom is very similar to the "car loom" of the GTi making this even easier. I cant comment on that though as ive no dealings with TU 205's

I certainly wouldnt be put off with that conversion though and my electrical knowledge is limited.

First things first have a look at the wiring diagrams at the back of the haynes manual and compare the 2 :D

Ok cheers! well it was run on carbs in its previous life, and all the wiring is missing ( it seems) so i think im going to have to put in the whole loom from the battery. will i be able to use the gti dash and get the gauges to work do you recon?

cheers sam

have actually just done this..

excluding sensor wires (as i run capillary after market guages.)

1 wire to starter motor.

2 to gearbox reverse.

and ive just built a self contained igniton loom for dizzy and igniton module. 5 wires in total for that side of the loom.

two connect between coil and module. one takes a feed from ignition and another one goes to tacho and finally the igniton module has an earth.

DONE..
