Distributor Noise?

odd this one, I started the car up 30 mins ago, checked everything over & all seems ok till I start to hear a tapping sound. It's coming from the vacuum advance 'disc' on the distributor, when I rev the engine the noise disappears, it only happens on tick over to.

I know its definitely the distributor and nothing more sinister as I put a metal bar onto it the dist body then pressed it against my ear (or the bone just in front) and you can hear this tapping for definite? So does this mean a new dizzy? It's a phase 1 too. Plenty being broken but its a pain.

 

Do these have serviceable items inside? I checked the car as I thought initially something was lose inside but that was all ok.

 

anyone shed any light on this for me?

update is, my tickover was low so I've adjusted this and now the noise is no more? Strange, does the earlier distributor need oiling at all?
